Dream About a Boat

Performed by Fabio Saba

This is a piece I wrote after an agitated night, that alternated between insomnia, beautiful dream scenes, and terrible nightmares. When I took the ukulele willing to put that agitation into music, the audacious Fabio Saba came to mind as the perfect performer. With Fabio in mind, I dared to expand my usual vocabulary with extended silences and melodic clusters.

This is Saba’s premiere, within a video by Raffaele Lamorte.

I recommend performing this piece on a tenor ukulele, or even on an amplified instrument, to get the best possible resonance for the tapped harmonics.

The score, including notation and tablature, has been published and made available by The Ukulele Bookshop.
