In Despair

I composed this piece for Samantha Muir, and that allowed me write beyond my performing abilities, as she can handle everything.

This is a very emotional score, with a sad and reflexive tone, although with glimpses of hope. Technically, there is classical tremolo and expressive dynamics involved, musically, there’s a bit of atonality, whole tone scales and motive repetition and transposition.

Here goes Muir’s premiere, which I consider an exceptional rendition.
